Still Standing was captured during winter at Lake Wānaka on New Zealand’s South Island. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains and an almost monochromatic landscape, the solitary willow rises from the calm water, its bare branches creating a delicate silhouette against the softness of the Southern Alps.
Winter transformed this familiar landscape into something remarkably quiet. The mountains seemed to disappear into the pale sky, while mist softened the horizon and the long exposure reduced the lake to an almost glass-like surface. At the centre of it all, the tree remained, isolated yet resilient.
